A new year does not simply mean new resolutions for one’s own behavior; it should also be a priority for brands and employees as a whole. While these marketing resolutions may seem obvious, writing them down and remembering them will hold a company accountable to complete them. By taking these five tips into account, companies may be able to expand their market or complete goals they have procrastinated.

  1. Use social media to your advantage.

Social media has become an easy way to produce content for the public and target a specific audience. However, simply posting any sort of content is not ideal to gain followers or business. For 2019, make posting quality content a priority, rather than a large quantity of content. Posting content that draws people to your brand is much more effective than multiple posts that aren’t relevant to your brand or the goods/services it offers.

Along with this, a marketing resolution for 2019 should also to be to post more quality content on all relevant social media platforms. This aspect is important to using social media as different audiences tend to be more present on specific platforms. Various statistics show that some platforms may be best to reach different age groups. The Pew Research Center reported that older generations tend to use Facebook, whereas the younger generations prefer to use Instagram. That being said, posting on numerous social media platforms will allow brands to cater to specific audiences and what they are interested in seeing.

2) Make SEO a priority.

SEO stands for search engine optimization and relates to ensuring search engines prioritize relevant content. By using SEO correctly websites can receive more traffic, improve rankings and increase brand awareness. Almost all businesses can benefit from using SEO. Higher visibility wrote an article about the various benefits that come out of SEO. Utilizing SEO effectively can help to build a brand’s trust with consumers. Another consideration could be running a paid Google Ads campaign.

3) Update your website.

This marketing resolution may seem less important than the others, however, a detail-oriented, easy to use, and aesthetically pleasing website allows consumers to gain a better understanding for what a company stands for and what they produce. Prolific Marketing said, “Looking good is important because your website is often your first impression you give potential customers. If they found you through a search or through a link a friend gave them, your website will be your first point of contact with them.” They also added that a well-thought-out website is: easy to navigate, concise/clear, well-organized, modern and persuades the consumer to do business with you.

4) Schedule and attend networking events.

If you have been working for a company for an extended period of time, networking may seem unnecessary. However, networking is able to provide everyone insight on what a company or individual needs. Networking events in particular are excellent for increasing brand awareness to other professionals in the industry, along with increased opportunity to be connected to clients or employees. Multiple events may be hosted in your city or neighboring cities; all it takes is a Google search. Scheduling these events allows company spokespeople to be accountable and more likely to attend.

5) Create a podcast relevant to your brand.

Some may say that podcasts are the new form of a blog post. These audio clips are different amounts of time and are able to express information to consumers or professionals with easy access. It is more convenient to play or record a 20-minute audio clip on the way to work rather than read or write a lengthy article about a topic. Podcasts also come off more relatable to consumers since it seems as though they are conversing, making people more likely to take advice.
